About Barry
Having come into this world as an em-path, I had many an occasion to perceive myself as cursed and fearful I’d be seen as a walking loony-tune. My family didn't seem to notice my condition, so they never explained to me that at least some of the emotions I experienced belonged to other people in my close vicinity.
As a teenager someone suggested that I look at whoever is around when I have these emotional roller coaster rides. At first this seemed ridiculous; they were my emotions after all, so why would I look to blame my internal weirdness on anyone else?
But alas the seed had been planted, and sure enough during one of my uncontrollable episodes I turned my internal camera lens outwards for a moment towards whomever was close by, and it became quite clear that the unfamiliar emotions I was feeling were coming from someone else.
This realization became a fixation, possibly even an obsession; first to understand how this phenomenon was even possible, and then to determine what I was supposed to do with the information once I knew who it belonged to.
I look back at this awakening as my first step towards self empowerment. The years to follow were a submersion into every nuance of metaphysics I crossed paths with searching for answers. I began to eventually fancy myself as quite the aficionado of all things metaphysical.
One day while using the dictionary to understand a word I wasn't familiar with, there was a reference to the word metaphysics, which I’d never bothered to look up before. What I learned stopped me dead in my tracks.
Metaphysics; the realm of physics beyond or after the physical.
So here I was, so proud of my metaphysical prowess, and I didn't know much of anything about basic physical physics. It was a humbling moment to be sure, and the beginning of a self imposed, layman’s journey into the physical realm of physics.
This world of physics was very matter-of-fact and finite, yet it started to provide a much deeper platform of understanding for the metaphysical tenants I was so passionate about.
When I finally got to quantum physics my mind was completely blown. These folks seemed to have a better handle on the metaphysical world than most of the metaphysical people I knew or had studied.
Quantum physicists see energy as moving from subtle to dense. They say that everything we can see, hear or feel began first as a quantum event, which is an arrangement of sub-atomic material prior to becoming a physical thing.
What that means to us is that our reality begins in our thoughts as an impulse before it shows up in our emotions or bodies as a physical reality. Understanding how our own thoughts affect our physical bodies and our immediate environment, as well as learning to perceive this in those we interact with affords us to be more in control and helps us to create harmonious situations.
A new science that emerged from what was being learned about the quantum field is Somatics, the study of Mind-Body-Spirit alignment, how a person’s psychology affects their physiology and vice verse. This new science delves into the inner workings of personal growth and development, why people interact with each other in the way that they do and how they can function most effectively personally and professionally.
I began using this wisdom daily, and it eventually became the foundation for the Four Corners of Empowerment, developing the mind-body-spirit skills of Attitude, Communication, Relationship and Leadership. This is actually an ancient formula for personal empowerment which I've updated to address the issues and opportunities of our modern age.
I have 30 years experience now empowering people in creating and dealing with change, increasing their overall effectiveness and helping them to establish a greater sense of balance in their personal and professional lives.
I founded End In Mind Empowerment to share my perspective on the human condition, that being ... too many people spend most of their lives wishing, hoping, striving, struggling and eventually giving up because of their lack of sufficient self-empowerment.
To have a destination of any type, be it personal, inter-personal or organizational implies that there is a starting point. The philosophy of beginning an undertaking with an outcome in mind ... is the foundation and intent for End In Mind Empowerment.
