10 Somatic Tips

Somatics is the interaction, or the lack thereof, between the Mind and the Body. Holistically successful people have better quality Somatic alignments as a functional part of their formula. Those with less functional Somatic alignments are imbalanced and usually emotionally distraught. The following is a list of 10 easy ways to build or improve your Mind~Body connection.

1)      To improve the effectiveness of the mind in your attitude

  • Strengthen your mental focus muscle
  • Pay attention to what your focusing on
  • Develop an awareness of what's being focused on and paid attention to
  • Read inspiring, enlightening & mind broadening books
2)      To improve the effectiveness of the body in your attitude
  • Use breathing exercises
  • Do daily physical exercise, stretching & activity
  • Practice sitting & standing with good posture

3)      To improve the effectiveness of the mind in your communication

  • Observe the person, or people, you're talking to
  • Try to understand who they are, and where they're coming from
  • Use your observations and understanding to make a meaningful connection

4)      To  improve the effectiveness of the body in your communication

  • Make comforting, rather than confronting, eye contact
  • Watch every one's, including your own, body language
  • Place your feet firmly on the floor, use good posture, and smile

5)      To  improve the effectiveness of the mind in your relationships

  • Determine the foundation of each of your relationships
  • Maintain a respectable level of integrity in all your relations
  • Establish a degree of interdependence in your significant relationships

6)      To improve the effectiveness of the body in your relationships

  • Check in often with your body to see how you're doing internally
  • Use your own body as a sensor to determine how others may be doing
  • Sense your bodies energy when interacting with different people

7)      To  improve the effectiveness of the mind in your leadership skills

  • Have a vision for yourself and those you are of influence to
  • Maintain congruent actions on both your visions and those you hold for others
  • Hold yourself and those you lead accountable for their actions, or the lack thereof

8)      To  improve the effectiveness of the body in your leadership skills

  • Be a person who practices what they preach
  • Use yourself as a physical example of your expectations of others
  • Maintain a healthy body for your mind to operate from

9)      To improve the effectiveness of the mind in your fun factor

  • Develop an attitude of being a more fun loving person
  • Bring a more fun loving nature to all your communications
  • Personal and professional relationships are opportunities to co-create fun interactions
  • Become a person who's fun factor is magnetically attractive to others

10)  To improve the effectiveness of the body in your fun factor

  • Use people and/or situations, when appropriate, to make you laugh
  • Use your own sense of humor to make others laugh
