I was a general building contractor for 15 years, and this experience had a foundational influence on my approach to business consulting. As a licensed general contractor I encountered a multitude of components on each project. Each of these phases had to be pre approved, individually signed off on, and then brought together in a specific chronological sequence in order for the project to ultimately come out the way it was designed to.
My responsibilities on the various projects included organizing and coordinating the interaction amongst the different employees, sub-contractors, suppliers, architects, inspectors, etc., with all their personalities, as well as maintaining the predetermined timelines and budgets.
The culmination of this experience combined with my lifelong study of human growth and development is the guiding influence of my business consulting, training and coaching.
I have 35 years experience assisting people in better understanding what's going on with their business systems and all the people involved in that endeavor. I help them to overcome inadequacies and performance anxieties, as well as issues related to; attitude, communication, relationship and leadership. I work with both business leaders and those they lead to map out what's going on, what's working and what's not.
Consulting
When I consult with a business I draw from my varied experiences. Every aspect of that enterprise needs to be fully considered and understood, then strategically implemented and integrated with each of the other dynamics of the business. Just like building a structure from a set of approved blueprints, companies operating from a well honed strategic plan, realize greater functionality, effectiveness and profit.
At the end of the day however, the bottom line reality of all business is that someone is purchasing products or services from someone else. This means business is really all about people interacting with other people in such a way as to enjoy a financial profit.
Once a business owner or executive has accurately defined where they presently are and where they plan on going, it's easier to determine what needs to be done in terms of leadership, relationship, communication and attitude. Having an understanding of what a business does or what a job description is one aspect, and knowing how those products, services, or job functions impact or relate to others in the workplace or marketplace is an other aequally relevant aspect of a successful endeavor.
Training
End In Mind trainings are approached by introducing participants to information and empowering them to be ready willing and able to use it. Too many leadership or sales training programs are based on the academic model of information dissemination.
Using a coaching based model of training has proven to be far more effective in long term results for management and sales, and has the added benefit of a happier, friendlier working environment as well as improved customer or client relations.
Coaching
A coaching partnership requires the coach to maintain an objective position in the relationship. Like in sports, the coach is never allowed on the playing field or court. My approach to coaching is to identify innate or latent qualities in the person or people being coached, which can then be built upon.
So many business owners and executives strive for better quality personal and professional lives, yet all too often they fall short of their goals. Too many failures can develop a fear of moving forward and ultimately lead to a defeatist mentality.
Those who seek to achieve extraordinary accomplishments personally and professionally need to develop their bodies in such a way as to support their mental performance, while at the same time developing their minds in such a way as to support their physical performance.
